Little Cranberry Island and nearby Acadia National Park provide a spectacular setting for outdoors activities of all kinds, including hiking, mountain biking, and sea kayaking. On Little Cranberry Island, the beaches, historical museum, library, art gallery, restaurant, and island store are all within a short walk of the Acadia Center.
Popular island activities include relaxing on a quiet beach, playing volleyball or soccer in a field overlooking the harbor, and exploring nearby islands in a kayak.
Twice a week students and teachers take an excursion to Acadia National Park, one of the most popular vacation destinations on the east coast of the USA. Excursion possibilities include enjoying the magnificent views from the top of Mt. Cadillac; visiting a museum exhibit on the culture of Maine’s Indians; walking or biking along the park’s carriage paths; and swimming in a lake or the ocean.
On the weekends you are free to try the many other activities Acadia National Park has to offer, including sailing, whale-watching, fishing, golf, tennis, horseback riding, rock climbing, and touring the many shops, museums, and villages.
Everything was very well organized and there was a nice combination of biking, hiking, swimming and “hanging out.” Maarten H., Netherlands
I enjoyed all the excursions very much. One of my favorites was hiking in Acadia National Park. Also sea-kayaking. I was surprised and glad to meet so many residents of the island. And picking clams was a great experience for me. Akiko G., Japan
Such an exciting experience in this little corner of paradise! Giovanna C., Italy
