Location & Activities
Our English immersion courses take place in Thomaston, a small New England village on the beautiful coast of Maine, USA. Maine is in the northeast corner of the USA, a few hours by car north of Boston.

Islands and ocean, rocky beaches and peaceful rivers, forests and hills, and the ideal summer climate make our area one of the most popular summer vacation places in the country. Our village is a short drive from a number of summer resort towns that are famous for their lively fishing harbors, shops, seaside restaurants, cafés, and cinemas.

Living in a small New England village allows you to take a break from the hurried pace of modern life and participate fully in the daily life of an American community to an extent that would be impossible in a large city. With its friendly people, tree-lined streets, and classic wooden houses built by ship captains in the nineteenth century, Thomaston provides a wonderful setting to study, relax, and make new friends.

The hills, rivers, ocean, and beaches of the Maine coast are ideal for outdoors activities of all kinds, including hiking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, and sailing.

Two afternoons per week students and teachers take an excursion to places of interest in the area. Excursion possibilities include enjoying the magnificent views of ocean and islands from the top of Mt. Battie; visiting an art museum, a winery, and a furniture craftsman's workshop; and swimming or kayaking in a lake or the ocean.

On the weekends you are free to try out many other activities, including sailing, whale watching, fishing, golf, tennis, horseback riding, rock climbing, and touring the many shops, museums, and villages.
