Travel Information
Acadia Center is located in Camden, Maine, USA. It’s easy to get here by air, bus, or car. The nearest airports are in Rockland (Maine) and Portland (Maine). Rockland is a 15-minute drive from Camden, and Portland is about a 2-hour drive from Camden. Transportation between Rockland or Portland airports and Acadia Center on the first and last days of your course is included in your course fee.
Buying your airplane ticket: Prices vary widely depending on your point of departure and the date you are flying. If low cost is important to you, do a price comparison of flights to Rockland (RKD), Portland (PWM), and Boston (BOS).
Travel Options
- Fly to Rockland (Maine): airport code: RKD. Rockland (Knox County) Airport is only 15 minutes by car from Camden. Cape Air offers several daily non-stop flights between Boston and Rockland. If you fly to Rockland, we will meet you at Rockland Airport and give you a ride to your accommodations in Camden (there is no charge for this service).
- Fly to Portland (Maine): airport code: PWM. (Make sure you book your flight to Portland, MAINE, not Portland, Oregon.) Portland is about 2 hours by car from Camden. Major airlines serving Portland International Jetport include Air Tran, Continental, Delta, Jet Blue, United, and US Airways. There are frequent non-stop flights between Portland and many US cities, including New York, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando, and Chicago.
Taxi from Portland to Camden: If you fly to Portland, we will reserve a group mini-van taxi service to meet you at the airport and bring you to your accommodations in Camden (about 2 hours). The fee for the taxi from Portland to Camden is included in your course fee. Please note that the taxi service will not pick you up in Portland after 11:30 pm, so if you arrive after that time you will have to stay at a hotel overnight in Portland and travel to Camden the next day. - Fly to Boston (Logan Airport): airport code: BOS. Bus from Boston (Logan Airport) to Portland: Concord Coach offers almost hourly bus service between Boston and Portland (and twice-daily bus service between Boston and Camden). Reservations are not necessary (and not available). Travel time by bus between Boston’s Logan Airport and Portland is 2 hours. The one-way fare is $26 and the round-trip fare is $44. If you take the bus from Boston to Portland, we will reserve a group mini-van taxi service to meet you at the Concord Coach bus station in Portland and bring you to your accommodations in Camden (about 2 hours). The fee for the taxi from Portland to Camden is included in your course fee.
Travel by car from Québec: Acadia Center is about 400 km (6 hours) from Québec City and about 475 km (7 hours) from Montréal.
Arrival and departure: You should arrive on Sunday and depart on Saturday. Classes are Monday through Friday.
Visa: If you are required to have a visa to enter the USA, you should apply for a visitor (B-2) visa, not a student visa. Because we do not grant academic degrees or credit, you do not need (and you will not be able to obtain) a student visa to attend courses at the Acadia Center.
